RECREATIONAL SPORTS MISSION As an office within the Division of Student Affairs, Recreational Sports provides outstanding opportunities to the campus community for the development of lifelong learning skills that bridge classroom theories and practice with experiential learning. This is accomplished through fun and interactive outlets in a safe environment to create an appreciation of a well rounded healthy, active lifestyle. The office, through its five main components of Fitness, Informal Recreation, Intramurals, Outdoor Recreation, and Sport Clubs also strives to provide marketable, meaningful work experiences and the opportunity to develop leadership skills for all employees and participants. RECREATIONAL SPORTS VISION To be one of the leading providers of Recreational Sports programs in the northeast and within Ithaca College's peer and aspirant schools. RECREATIONAL SPORTS GOALS Support the mission of Ithaca College and The Division of Student Affairs; by providing essential services that foster active student centered learning and development. Provide experiential learning opportunities that enable the enhancement of personal growth, communication skills, leadership, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Provide effective staff training to foster personal and professional development. Demonstrate fiscal responsibility by developing innovative community partnerships. Provide the opportunity for students to learn and prosper from these relationships. Improve and develop recreational programs and facilities based on needs assessment and ongoing program analysis. Continually review and assess the offices progress in meeting its mission, vision, and goals.
SPORTS CLUB Sport clubs at Ithaca College have been in existence for over thirty years. In the fall of 2001 the sport club program was placed under the guidance of the Office of Recreational Sports and the program has rapidly expanded. Currently, there are over thirty-five sport clubs categorized as instructional and performance, semi-competitive, and competitive clubs. Sport clubs are voluntarily organized by students for the purpose of furthering a common interest in a physical activity through competing, instruction, participating, or performing. Students elect their own officers, draft their own constitution, request facility space, get approval for and make travel arrangements, schedule contests with other teams, develop contracts with officials and artists, fundraise and manage their budget. SPORT CLUB MISSION The Ithaca College sport club program mission is to provide students with a unique opportunity to develop leadership, organizational and fiscal management skills in a fun and safe supportive learning environment in which participants can build a sense of community. SPORT CLUB VISION Using best practices, Ithaca College Sports Club Program seeks to be the leader of its peer and aspirant schools and one of the top programs in the country in the areas of participation, student satisfaction and diverse offerings. Acting as advisors and mentors the professional staff of the Ithaca College Office of Recreational Sports strives to teach leadership through risk taking with guidance for sport club officers. POLICY ON DRUGS Drugs are strictly prohbited. All drugs including muscle relaxants such as sanoma are not allowed on premises. In rare cares certain exceptions are allowed, for more information discuss your specifc case with the health supervisor. FITNESS MISSION The fitness program of the Office of Recreational Sports at Ithaca Colleges strives to empower individuals to adopt a lifestyle that fosters a healthy mind, body, and soul through fun, safe, and well balanced offerings.
FITNESS VISION The fitness program of the Office of Recreational Sports, at Ithaca College, strives to have every participant develop a healthy lifelong lifestyle by providing quality student and professional instruction as well as offering a variety of activities that foster personal growth.
